The Grass Routes Gran Fondo is a truly unique experience. It is different from the usual events around Ireland because it covers a wide variety of terrains to suit everybody (road, gravel, short climbs, descents) and can be ridden with any bike or setup depending on the rider’s needs and confidence.
Surrounded by stunning scenery of the Galtee mountains and the Tipperary countryside, the Boreens route is an epic one day classic which uncovers one of Ireland’s most beautiful hidden gems. Every kilometre is breathtakingly beautiful. 
To complete the 165km event, I’d advise all cyclists to develop a good endurance base as well as to improve on short punchy climbs. Good nutrition prior and during the event is crucial in order to complete it. My advice is a good carb based meal the night before and a carb based breakfast in the morning. You should be aiming to drink a full bottle of fluids every hour while on the bike together with at least 40/50 grams of carbs per hour. 
It is essential to bring good clothing as we are in Ireland and the weather is very unpredictable and it is likely you might get wet during the course of the 165 km cycle.
My final piece of advice is to find a few other riders or a small group of people to ride with so you will have more fun on the route and the 165 km will fly by.
